How to Book Hawaiian Airlines Business Class (First Class) with 34,000 Amex Points

This month, there’s a new 20% transfer bonus when you transfer Amex points to Hawaiian Airlines.

So, let’s go over how you can maximize this and book Hawaiian Airlines lie-flat business class/first class flights to Hawaii with points.

Earn

For this redemption, you need to have Amex points because Amex currently has a 20% transfer bonus through the end of this month. You can also transfer Bilt Rewards points to Hawaiian Airlines, but you won’t get a transfer bonus right now.

Redeem

There are two ways to search. The first and most obvious way is to search on Hawaiian Airline’s website, but you'd need to search day by day, which can take a while because there is no award calendar.

Another option is to use Seats.aero.

Step 1
On seats.aero, select Explore. Select JetBlue. We are searching using JetBlue because JetBlue has a partnership with Hawaiian Airlines.

Step 2
Filter the results in the search bar or the column filters at the bottom of the screen for a Hawaiian Airlines-operated route.

Step 3
Pick and choose which dates have award availability and then run the same search on the Hawaiian Airlines website to confirm the award availability.

Step 4
Transfer your Amex (or Bilt) points and book the flight.

Maximize

For business class, the Saver Award rate is as low as 40,000 Hawaiian Airline Miles, but with the 20% transfer bonus like the one Amex has right now, you only need to transfer 34,000 Amex points (one-way).

If you want to maximize your trip further, choose the business class seats on the B787, their newest business class product.

I'll have a full YouTube tutorial video next week, so stay tuned for that!

LifeMiles Devaluation

Merp. Another devaluation. What makes this particularly painful is that LifeMiles did not give us a notice and just made the devaluation overnight.

U.S. to Europe (first class)
Old rate: 87,000 Lifemiles
New rate: 130,000 Lifemiles (ouch)

U.S. to Europe (business class)
Old rate: 63,000 Lifemiles
New rate: 70,000 Lifemiles

U.S. to Europe (economy class)

Old rate: ~30,000 Lifemiles
New rate: ~35,000 Lifemiles

Weirdly enough, as Award Wallet reported, there are some routes where the redemption improved. For example, from some cities on the East Coast, you can fly to Britain or Ireland for 45,000 Lifemiles, where it used to be 60,000 Lifemiles.

I have a few YouTube videos on Lifemiles, which you can check out below:

So it’s Amazon Prime Day. (Well, technically it runs from July 8–11) And honestly? Not a whole lot that’s catching my eye right now. A lot of “deals” feel like marked-up stuff that have been discounted. BUT there are a couple of items that are genuinely worth considering, especially if you travel. Here’s what I’ve got: The links below are my Amazon affiliate links, using these links help support my work! 1. We might be cooked. Okay, maybe not totally cooked, but the credit card points game is definitely trending in the wrong direction lately. A few negative updates have rolled out over the last couple weeks, and if you’re not paying attention, they could cost you points. Here’s what’s going on: New Referral Restrictions (Really Sneaky Ones) Starting October 7, 2025, a certain bank (you know the one… the one I can’t mention) is making it harder to earn referral points for their business credit...

American Airlines is one of the few major U.S. airlines that doesn’t partner with any major transferable credit card point programs. No Chase, no Amex, no Capital One, no Bilt, nothing. But just because you can’t transfer your points directly to AA doesn’t mean you can’t still use your points to fly on American Airlines flights. In this week’s episode of Book Here, Not There, I show you how to book an American Airlines flight from LAX to D.C. using your credit card points—without touching a...
