The points I redeemed for our upcoming Europe trip

Hey!

Before I get into how I redeemed my points for our trip to Europe, a quick reminder: today is the LAST FULL DAY to earn the 100,000-point bonus on the Capital One Venture X.

The offer will expire on 1/5/2026

If you're still on the fence, below is a list of reasons to get the card and reasons not to.

Reasons to get the Capital One Venture X

  • 100,000 point bonus (duh!), It's an all-time high for the card
  • Over $1,500+ in value in the first year!
  • Low annual fee ($395) for a premium credit card
  • Simple 2x points on everything
  • Easy to use $300 Capital One Travel credit
  • No coupons or credits to juggle

Reasons NOT to get the Capital One Venture X

  • The minimum spend requirement to earn the 100,000 is $10,000 in 6 months (kinda high tbh)
  • On February 1st, no more complimentary guest airport lounge access for Capital One Lounges and Priority Pass Lounges

If this all sounds good to you, using my link to apply for the card helps support my work. TIA!

Now, let's get into what I redeemed my points for this weekend.

We have an upcoming trip to Asia, and after that, we are headed to Europe!

This time, we are flying SWISS from Los Angeles to Zurich in business class, which was booked through Air Canada.

Love that Air Canada charges just 2,500 points for a lap infant!

So far, this trip is open-ended. We don't yet know what we'll be doing in Europe, but we do know we'll be flying Air France Business Class from Paris back to San Francisco.

Pretty decent in points at 60,000 points per person, but kinda steep in fees, unfortunately.

Additionally, I'll have to pay 10% of the cash fare for a lap infant, which will likely cost $500 ish.

Not ideal, but that's what's available at the moment, and this trip is coming up within the next couple of months. I had to lock something in now.

I'll make a fuller in-depth YouTube video once we book the hotels, so stay tuned for that!

If you booked anything this weekend using your points, please reply to this email and let me know. I am genuinely curious what people are redeeming their points for.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Max

The Capital One Venture X bonus just hit an all-time high of 100,000 points. That matches what we saw way back when the card first launched, and it’s been a minute since that number came around. But here’s the thing: just because a bonus is huge doesn’t mean it’s the right card for you. Let me break down the three big reasons you SHOULD go for it: The 100,000 bonus is genuinely generous. Combined with the $300 annual travel credit, the $395 annual fee becomes way more manageable. You’re also...
