New 30% Transfer Bonus and How to Maximize

New 30% British Airways Avios Transfer Bonus

If you log into your Amex account this morning, you'll see a 30% transfer bonus to British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Iberia through July 15th.

That means for every 1,000 Amex points you transfer to British Airways, you'll receive 1,300 Avios!

How to Maximize

The obvious thing to do is transfer points to British Airways to book British Airways flights but sometimes that's not the best deal because British Airways flies a majority of their flights to and from London Heathrow which means...very high taxes and fees.

For example, if I want to fly from San Diego to London in business class, I'm looking at 90,000 Avios and $475 in taxes and fees. (70,000 Avios if you include the 30% transfer bonus).

Which is still better than paying full price for the flight but where you can maximize even further is booking British Airways partner airlines.

British Airways is part of the oneworld Alliance, which means you can potentially book any of the oneworld partner airlines through British Airways.

Here are some redemption examples, and all the redemption rates below INCLUDE the 30% transfer bonus from Amex.

So it’s Amazon Prime Day. (Well, technically it runs from July 8–11) And honestly? Not a whole lot that’s catching my eye right now. A lot of “deals” feel like marked-up stuff that have been discounted. BUT there are a couple of items that are genuinely worth considering, especially if you travel. Here’s what I’ve got: The links below are my Amazon affiliate links, using these links help support my work! 1. We might be cooked. Okay, maybe not totally cooked, but the credit card points game is definitely trending in the wrong direction lately. A few negative updates have rolled out over the last couple weeks, and if you’re not paying attention, they could cost you points. Here’s what’s going on: New Referral Restrictions (Really Sneaky Ones) Starting October 7, 2025, a certain bank (you know the one… the one I can’t mention) is making it harder to earn referral points for their business credit...

American Airlines is one of the few major U.S. airlines that doesn’t partner with any major transferable credit card point programs. No Chase, no Amex, no Capital One, no Bilt, nothing. But just because you can’t transfer your points directly to AA doesn’t mean you can’t still use your points to fly on American Airlines flights. In this week’s episode of Book Here, Not There, I show you how to book an American Airlines flight from LAX to D.C. using your credit card points—without touching a...
